For the third consecutive year, FUIB and Hospitallers have been collaborating on the We Are of One Blood initiative. This project aims to equip paramedic ambulances with essential gear, tactical medicine supplies, and medications. Currently, with funding of UAH 8.6 million from the bank, Hospitallers’ evacuation vehicles are being upgraded to save even more lives in the most challenging conditions. The enhancements include radio-electronic warfare systems, Starlink terminals, refrigerators, extra batteries, headlights, repair kits, and more.
To date, four modified casevac vehicles are ready for deployment, while six others are undergoing final upgrades. These evacuation vehicles are fully equipped to operate under combat conditions, featuring night vision cameras, strobe lights, visibility markers for night movement, specialised roof-mounted storage racks, structures for radio-electronic warfare and Starlink systems, aluminum composite panels, and armoured film on the front windows.
Hospitaller Ihor Honcharuk-Khomyn, known by the call sign Domino, said:
“Hospitallers have been operating on the frontlines for ten years. Over this time, our volunteer medics have learned which vehicles and conditions work best. For example, L200 is convenient, lightweight, and has excellent off-road capabilities. However, its small cargo area often makes it difficult for medics to work. In partnership with FUIB, we redesigned the cargo space to better meet our needs, making it more comfortable for both the injured and the medic. We’ve also taken steps to protect against drones, which are increasingly prevalent on the frontlines, and tailored compartments for radio-electronic warfare systems. Rapid evacuation and timely, high-quality care save the lives of our fighters. A well-equipped vehicle capable of transporting the wounded to a medical evacuation or stabilisation point is a real blessing for combat medics as it saves lives.”
Leonid Skalozub, Deputy Chairman of the FUIB Board for Security, said:
“This year, frontline units have a significant need for radio-electronic warfare systems, reconnaissance drones, charging devices, generators, computer equipment, and vehicles. And of course, timely medical aid is essential. Over nearly three years of full-scale war, we’ve provided our defenders with equipment and supplies valued at over UAH 300 million. Alongside our partners, we deliver blood to the frontlines and procure tactical medical supplies. Our mission is to save as many lives of our defenders as possible.”
These ten upgraded vehicles will be dispatched to the most challenging areas, including Donetsk, Zaporizhia, and Kharkiv axes. These casevac vehicles, equipped with high mobility, light armour, and drone protection, are significantly more effective than the unmodified models currently predominant on the frontlines.
