MODUS X and Metinvest Digital, both part of SCM, are included in the summer 2026 ranking of the 50 largest IT companies in Ukraine, published by DOU.ua, a leading Ukrainian tech sector media outlet. The ranking is based on team numbers as of July 2026. Together the two companies employ nearly 1,600 specialists in Ukraine, with teams in Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia and Kamianske. Both companies began as forward-thinking technology divisions within our industrial businesses but have successfully evolved into standalone solution providers for the wider market. The ranking also shows that the Ukrainian IT sector has kept its overall headcount broadly stable during russia's war against Ukraine.
Which SCM companies are in the DOU.ua ranking?
MODUS X and Metinvest Digital are both listed in the top 50. MODUS X has teams in Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia. Metinvest Digital has teams in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia and Kamianske. DOU.ua counts specialists who are in Ukraine and those who have moved abroad but continue to pay taxes in Ukraine.
What do MODUS X and Metinvest Digital do?
Both companies deliver IT services for large organisations: cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, data protection, business applications and artificial intelligence. MODUS X developed inside our energy company DTEK, from its IT transformation programme, and now also works with European clients from its office in Warsaw, Poland. MODUS X and DTEK have mapped more than 120 AI initiatives and are implementing the first 20, including predictive recognition of outages on power lines with 98% accuracy. Metinvest Digital was created inside our steel and mining company Metinvest to provide a single IT backbone for more than 30 metals and mining enterprises, built on large SAP and Microsoft Azure programmes. That backbone supports work such as computer vision for safety and drones for inventory management.
What does the ranking show about the Ukrainian IT sector during the war?
It shows a sector that has remained stable under difficult conditions. The 50 companies in the ranking employ about 79,250 specialists, close to the level recorded over the past 18 months. They hired nearly 7,000 people in the first half of 2026, and 38% of the companies increased their teams in Ukraine over that period. Most companies in the ranking plan to continue hiring in the next six months.
Why does this matter for companies working in Ukraine and Europe?
Because the experience these teams have built is now available to other businesses. Ukrainian companies face risks to both physical and digital infrastructure, including damaged sites, relocations at short notice, power cuts and a high level of cyber attacks. MODUS X and Metinvest Digital have worked in exactly these conditions, first for SCM companies and now for external clients.
"Today, digital resilience is a critically important element that directly affects the ability of a business to work, take decisions and remain effective regardless of external circumstances," said Oleksandr Pronkin, Service Management Director at Metinvest Digital.
