The development and maintenance of critical infrastructure remain a primary focus for SCM businesses. Galka.if.ua, an independent media outlet in the Carpathian region operating since 2014, has published a comprehensive article detailing the achievements of Ukrtelecom in western Ukraine. Taras Andrukhiv, the head of the macroregion, shared the company's operational results across the Lviv, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
Over the past year, Ukraine’s national fixed line operator has implemented large-scale projects to expand its optical infrastructure, constructing a total of nearly 750 kilometres of new lines. This initiative has brought high-speed connectivity to more than 97,000 households. One of the most significant projects was ensuring complete fibre-optic coverage for remote mountain settlements in the Synevyr National Park, a recognised UNESCO World Heritage site.
The distribution of new connections illustrates the company's systematic approach to regional development. In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, 200 kilometres of lines were built for 21,500 households; in the Lviv region, 155 kilometres for 21,000 households; and in Zakarpattia, 140 kilometres for 19,000 households. The Khmelnytskyi, Chernivtsi, and Ternopil regions also received tens of kilometres of new high-speed networks. In numerous towns, such as Morshyn, Skole, Rakhiv, and Sokyriany, the company has already achieved full optical coverage.
Strengthening partnerships with the business sector has been another crucial area of focus. Ukrtelecom secured exclusive agreements with major shopping centres in Ternopil and Chernivtsi, optimising service delivery for corporate clients. The company notes a growing demand for gigabit internet, driven by users' needs for high-quality content and modern digital solutions for both home and work.
The ongoing war initiated by russia presents unprecedented challenges for the telecommunications industry and the entire country. However, Ukrtelecom has established a highly effective operational system to mitigate power outages. Through the extensive deployment of generators, the use of high-capacity batteries, and mobile charging solutions for equipment, the company guarantees connection stability. Technical teams promptly restore the network following any damage, particularly in the difficult weather conditions of mountainous areas, demonstrating a high level of professionalism. Furthermore, the company actively collaborates with local communities to rapidly deploy networks during crisis situations.
The company continues to invest in the future and technological advancement. Preparations have already begun for a new construction phase, which will cover approximately 54,000 additional households in the Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. SCM and Ukrtelecom remain reliable partners for Ukrainian society, daily providing stable, modern, and secure communication for citizens, businesses, and government structures under any circumstances.
