Ukrtelecom continues to expand its optical infrastructure, connecting thousands of new subscribers and tens of social facilities, all while restoring the enemy damaged networks and helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The operator maintains internet access availability at 90% of localities covered before the full-scale Russian invasion.
Financial performance
In Q1 2024, Ukrtelecom's total revenues exceeded UAH 1.13 billion, marking a 10% decrease year-over-year.
- EBITDA was around UAH 275 million, with EBITDA margin of 24.3%.
- The capital investments exceeded UAH 74 million.
- Ukrtelecom paid around UAH 340 million in taxes and levies to the national and local budgets.
Losses from the full-scale war
Since the onset of Russia's full scale invasion, Ukrtelecom has been incurring the ever increasing damages and losses.
As estimated in early April this year, the war damaged nearly 280 corporate buildings, with 52 completely destroyed.
Preliminary assessments show that the company's direct losses, including destroyed buildings, lost equipment, damaged telecommunication networks, and other assets in the temporarily occupied territories make around UAH 700 million.
The overall destructive impact of the Russian aggression on Ukrtelecom amounts to UAH 2.8 billion. This figure is primarily attributed to the economic devaluation of operational assets.
Restoration
Repair and restoration teams work wherever they can, addressing damages caused by continuous enemy attacks on Ukrainian cities, towns and villages almost daily and restoring connectivity as soon as green-lighted by the military.
Internet services are available in 90% of Ukrainian localities covered by the operator's network as of the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion.
Optical infrastructure development
Ukrtelecom's optical network spans across more than 80,000 kilometres, and the company continues to expand its optical infrastructure, having laid more than 2,200 km of fibre optics in Q1 2024 alone. To date, Ukrtelecom has extended state-of-the-art connectivity to over 2,150,000 households across the country.
The company extended its optical network coverage to 65 medical facilities and educational institutions in Q1 2024. This expansion means that a total of 1,270 healthcare and over 1,720 educational establishments benefit from high-speed optical internet now.
