Metinvest has reinforced the Ukrainian Border Guards’ capabilities against enemy forces with a significant aid package. This latest contribution includes a range of vehicles and drones provided under Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative.
The assistance to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is collectively valued at around UAH 12 million. This critical support includes ten Volkswagen microbuses and an array of advanced drones, comprising five ‘Valkyrie’ complexes with two planes each, and five Mavic 3T quadcopters equipped with thermal imagers.
Soldiers have highlighted that the new equipment from Metinvest will significantly enhance the establishment of mobile monitoring and reconnaissance points, thereby bolstering the defence of the country and the control of its borders.
“Metinvest has significantly bolstered Ukraine’s border security by providing over 50 all-wheel-drive buses to the border guards for comprehensive patrolling. Marking the fourth shipment, the company has now delivered approximately 60 ‘Valkyrie’ drones. Each of these advanced units has a coverage capability of 100 kilometers, thus equipping the border guards to effectively monitor almost the entire border. Importantly, these ‘Valkyries’ are actively deployed in critical conflict zones, notably including Bakhmut,”
stated Oleksandr Vodoviz, the Head of Metinvest Group CEO’s Project Office.
Since the onset of the full-scale war, Metinvest has committed a substantial UAH 4.2 billion towards supporting Ukraine and its people. Within this significant investment, over UAH 2 billion have been allocated to aid fighters under Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative. The company’s extensive contributions include 150,000 bulletproof vests, 25,000 helmets, 80,000 anti-tank hedgehogs, 31,500 tourniquets, 1,500 drones, 2,000 thermal imagers, 500 vehicles, and 300 special mobile shelters.
