More than 1,500 buildings, including schools, were destroyed during the occupation of Kyiv Oblast. This means that destroyed schools could not resume in-person classes. However, Ukrainian schools get safer every day: KSE Foundation has completed the repairs of shelters in 19 schools. With the help of FUIB team, very soon two more schools will have reliable shelters in their premises.
FUIB has donated UAH 1 million to help protect pupils of two academic lyceums in Bucha Raion, Kyiv Oblast. Both of them were damaged during the enemy occupation.
In spring 2022, the hostilities destroyed 80% of Buzovsky Academic Lyceum. Today, local authorities are carrying out repairs, and FUIB is helping KSE Foundation build a secure shelter. The Foundation plans to rebuild the lyceum by the end of spring so that children could start in-person learning in September.
A comfortable shelter will also be built at Dmytrivsky Lyceum in the near future. Equipment was looted from the school, and windows and doors were smashed. Therefore, schoolchildren cannot return to normal studies, and the local rugby team cannot resume training sessions. Currently, children have to study at a local community centre that is not quite fit for classes. Only 8 out of 26 classes can be delivered at the same time, and others have to wait. Online and offline classes alternate.
