Our energy company DTEK, through its distribution system operators in DTEK Grids, has secured the Resilience category title at the 14th annual Environment+Energy Leader Awards. This global accolade recognises the organisation for ensuring stable power supplies, rapid network recovery, and the implementation of innovative solutions during the full-scale war.
The Environment+Energy Leader Awards is an international programme that celebrates excellence in energy management and environmental performance. Winners are selected by an independent jury of experts based on innovation, scalability, and measurable impact. This year, the judges highlighted the exceptional nature of our operations, noting that DTEK Grids continues to promote modernisation and ESG commitments despite active hostilities and constant drone attacks by russia.
The scale of the recovery effort is significant. Since the start of the war, DTEK Grids has repaired more than 11,000 damaged energy facilities. In total, our engineers have performed 42.3 million power restorations for Ukrainians affected by attacks on infrastructure. To maintain this level of response, approximately 1,000 emergency crews are active daily. The safety of these professionals is a priority, with the company providing body armour, tactical medical kits, and mandatory first aid training in coordination with the State Emergency Service.
Our approach to reconstruction follows the principle of building back better. Through the Grids of the Future project, we are integrating SmartGrid technologies to create a modern energy system.
Sustainability remains core to our operations even during the war. We continue to integrate ESG principles, as evidenced by our programme to protect biodiversity. Over the past four years, we have installed 800 platforms for stork nests on power pylons to ensure the safety of both the birds and the network.
Alina Bondarenko, CEO of DTEK Grids, emphasised that resilience for the company means responsibility for people and a systematic focus on long-term results under the most difficult conditions. The jury noted that the ability to maintain operations while pursuing innovation in customer service is exceptional.
This commitment to people extends beyond the immediate workforce. SCM companies and the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation run many diverse social programmes to support Ukrainians generally, which include comprehensive assistance and rehabilitation initiatives tailored specifically for veterans.
This award reinforces our optimistic outlook on the recovery of the national economy. We are setting new global standards for the energy sector by proving that modernisation and sustainability can be achieved even in a time of war.
