Military personnel, displaced individuals, local residents, and even animals receive support from Zaporizhstal’s young volunteers.
In December, Ukraine celebrated the Volunteer’s Day. To mark the occasion, Zaporizhstal’s youth organisation held another collection drive for military aid. Throughout the war, they have been a driving force in supporting soldiers, internally displaced people, and those most affected by the conflict.
The metallurgists deliver essential supplies, food, personal items, and tools to the frontlines while also boosting the morale of the fighters. They participate in blood donation drives, prepare humanitarian kits, weave camouflage nets, and support animal shelters.
Since the start of the full-scale war, Zaporizhstal volunteers have conducted 455 humanitarian missions to the grey zone, delivering over 500,000 kilograms of aid. Volunteers have woven 5,160 square metres of camouflage netting, enough to conceal 115 tanks. They have produced 8,000 trench candles and 1,500 camouflage helmet covers for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Also, 112 medical kits and 5 paramedic backpacks have been assembled and donated.
Over 32,500 kilograms of baked goods and 2,640 litres of homemade beverages have been prepared and sent to the frontlines. Approximately 2,000 displaced persons have found refuge in shelters maintained by the volunteers.
They have also organised 21 charity events and 6 blood donation campaigns. Notably, volunteers haven’t forgotten about animals. The activists have regularly visited Zaporizhia’s shelters, delivering hundreds of kilograms of food for the animals in need.
