Today marks the third year since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine – three years of resilience, solidarity, and inner strength for every Ukrainian. Since the first days of the war in 2014, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has been providing humanitarian aid to civilians. Since 24 February 2022, it has continued to respond swiftly to urgent needs, supporting those whose lives have been upended by war.
The Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives programme remains focused on its key missions: delivering food, medicine, psychological support, medical treatment, and rehabilitation for those affected. Specifically:
- 13.4 million emergency food kits have been distributed to civilians on the frontlines, in frontline regions, and to displaced persons across Ukraine.
- More than 1 million Ukrainians have received psychological support from the Foundation’s qualified specialists.
- 800,000 units of medication and blood storage containers have been supplied to medical facilities and civilians across Ukraine.
- Over 11,000 people have received assistance for medical treatment and rehabilitation.
- The Foundation is also helping equip communal spaces in social housing under the IAmMariupol. Housing project.
The Foundation continues to prioritise support for children:
- Nearly 6 million children across Ukraine have received aid through the Rinat Akhmetov – to Children! programme.
- Following the Russian attack in July 2024, the Foundation provided Ohmatdyt Children’s Hospital with medical equipment, enabling over 4,000 children annually to receive accurate diagnostics and life-saving surgeries.
- 5,000 children have participated in the Peaceful Recreation for Children of Ukraine project, receiving psychological support, rehabilitation, and recreation.
- 170 rehabilitation courses have been conducted for children injured in the war.
- More than 230 children under the age of seven have received hearing aids.
Since 2014, the Foundation has been collecting and preserving firsthand accounts of civilians affected by the war. To date, over 130,000 people have shared their stories with the Museum of Civilian Voices, an initiative of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
Overall, humanitarian aid from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, SCM’s businesses, and FC Shakhtar has reached more than 18 million people since 2014. For more details, visit: https://akhmetovfoundation.org/
