Our bank FUIB has released «Насмілені» (The Daring), a photo project published by Forbes Ukraine as part of the bank's Live Towards platform and shot by the documentary photographers Vlada and Kostiantyn Liberov, known as LIBKOS. All five women in the project serve Ukraine at war: in the army, in the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, in the police and in the veterans movement. They include the commander of the first all-female crew of unmanned aerial vehicles, the only female combat pilot of an Mi-8 helicopter in Ukraine, and the head of the VETERANKA women veterans movement. Each of them was asked what courage means to her.
What is The Daring photo project?
«Насмілені» (The Daring) is a photo project by SCM’s First Ukrainian International Bank (FUIB), published by Forbes Ukraine and shot by the photographers Vlada and Kostiantyn Liberov. It is part of Live Towards, the social platform that FUIB develops. The project is about women who dared and gained the profession they wanted, in fields that were long treated as men's work.
Who are the women in the project?
Daria Borysenko, call sign Hilka, is the commander of the first all-female crew of unmanned aerial vehicles. Before the war she built marketing strategies, and the full-scale invasion changed her priorities.
Kateryna is the only female combat pilot of an Mi-8 helicopter in Ukraine. She has flown more than 30 combat missions and holds the Order For Courage and the Silver Cross.
Inna Safronova is head of the unmanned systems department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk region. At large fires, she and her colleagues extinguish the flames using an unmanned ground robotic system.
Maria Yatsenko is a police lieutenant colonel and an investigator at the Kupiansk district police department in Kharkiv region. She received the international For Bravery award from the Association of Women Police.
Kateryna Pryimak is the head of the VETERANKA women veterans movement. In 2014 she went to the front as a combat medic instead of starting a master's degree. Thanks to the work of Ms Pryimak and her fellow veterans, 63 combat positions have been opened to women.
What is the Live Towards platform?
Live Towards is the social platform developed by FUIB for the integration of veterans and women veterans into employment, entrepreneurship, financial services and society more widely. The Daring continues that work by showing women who built careers in services where they were not expected.
Where can the stories be read?
The full stories, together with the portraits by Vlada and Kostiantyn Liberov, are published on the Forbes Ukraine website.
