System Capital Management (SCM) has been confirmed as the largest contributor to Ukraine's defence and humanitarian efforts among private businesses. A comprehensive new ranking released by the respected Ukrainian media outlet NV places SCM at the top of the list of corporate donors, highlighting the scale of support provided since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by russia.
The total amount allocated by SCM businesses, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, and FC Shakhtar to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and civilians has now reached UAH 13.5 billion ($368 million). This figure represents a massive, coordinated effort to provide protective gear, vehicles, medical supplies, and essential humanitarian aid to those displaced or injured by the war. It underscores the scale of the mobilisation of resources within our investment group to meet the critical needs of the nation during its most difficult historical challenge.
This leadership in donor support is the direct result of a strategic decision made by SCM shareholder Rinat Akhmetov. His directive has been consistent throughout the war: SCM must dedicate its capacity, industrial reach, and financial resources to ensuring Ukraine’s survival and ultimate victory. This strategy has guided our operations for years, ensuring that our support evolves rapidly to meet the changing needs of both the front lines and the civilian population.
However, charitable contributions represent only one pillar of our commitment to national resilience. We recognise that a functioning, solvent economy is vital for sustaining a prolonged war effort. Therefore, SCM takes equal pride in its status as Ukraine's leading taxpayer. In 2024 alone, our group paid UAH 74.6 billion ($1.8 billion) in taxes and fees to budgets at all levels.
These tax revenues are the lifeblood of the state. They directly finance the salaries of soldiers, doctors, and teachers, and maintain the critical infrastructure required for the country to function. By maintaining transparency and fulfilling our fiscal obligations despite the immense challenges of operating in wartime conditions—including the loss of assets and logistics disruptions—SCM provides a stable financial foundation for the state.
Our approach combines immediate assistance through donations with long-term stability through economic contribution. We believe that responsible private business serves as a crucial element of national security. Every hryvnia donated provides immediate relief, while every hryvnia paid in tax strengthens the state's institutional capacity to resist aggression.
Looking ahead, SCM remains bullish on Ukraine's prospects. We are not waiting for the end of hostilities to begin the work of reconstruction; we are actively investing in the country’s industrial recovery today. We are repairing energy infrastructure, rebuilding logistics chains, and working to preserve jobs for thousands of Ukrainians. Our faith in victory is absolute, and our support for the state and the army will continue without pause until peace and territorial integrity are restored.
