The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has received a large shipment of aid worth UAH 16 million from Metinvest Group, including various models of drones and armoured vehicles.
To enable the border guards defending our frontiers to perform combat missions to counter the enemy, Metinvest has donated 10 Valkyrie aerial systems with 20 drones for long-range reconnaissance, 40 Mavic 3 UAVs for reconnaissance and artillery fire control, 100 more special purpose drones, and three armoured vehicles. The assistance is provided at no expense as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative.
“Thanks to the Steel Front, we have the vehicles that allow our mobile teams to use these types of unmanned systems, Valkyrie and Mavic 3. They can jointly carry out additional reconnaissance, fire control and other military missions,” explained Senior Lieutenant Dmytro Petrenko representing the State Border Guard Service.
“The Valkyrie is the enemy detection system, the Mavic 3 is the eyes. The military share their positive feedback about the equipment with us. That is why we are buying another big batch of UAVs for the army,” said Oleksandr Vodoviz, Head of Metinvest Group CEO’s Project Office.
The company has already handed over about 30 armoured vehicles to the soldiers, primarily various cash-in-transit vans purchased in Europe. Such vehicles are needed both for evacuation and for going to ground zero to fulfil combat missions.
Since the outbreak of the all-out war, Metinvest has allocated UAH 2 billion to support the Ukrainian army as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative. In particular, our defenders have received more than 1,500 UAVs, which makes the company the largest supplier of drones to the military among private businesses, excluding charities.
