Metinvest Group continues to strengthen the defence capabilities of the Ukrainian army. As part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front military initiative, the company handed over a series of pickups to the Khartiya unit of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Reliable transportation is always crucial at the front lines, where the service life of vehicles in combat is often brief. To enhance the motor fleet of the National Guard, Metinvest has supplied five robust Navara pickups to the Khartiya unit. The soldiers plan to repaint the vehicles in winter camouflage, outfit them with armoured plating, and utilise them for offensive operations and countering enemy drones.
"We intend to further modify the vehicles. Those designated for personnel transport will be fitted with reactive armour, while those earmarked for drone interception will be equipped with weapons. This military equipment will enable us to more effectively combat the aggressor and work towards liberating our nation," stated the logistics chief of the National Guard's 13th Khartiya Brigade.
Metinvest has now supplied the Ukrainian Defence Forces with over 500 vehicles. With a current surplus of pickups, the military's focus has shifted towards acquiring all-wheel-drive trucks. Such requests are becoming increasingly frequent, prompting us to source and deliver this specific type of vehicles," explained Oleksandr Vodoviz, the Head of Metinvest Group CEO's Project Office.
