Since the very first days of the full-scale invasion, Metinvest Group has been helping Ukrainian soldiers. In particular, Metinvest has developed and started production of dugout shelters for our combatants.
These modular structures are designed as shelters that do not only reinforce the trenches, but also to provide additional protection for Ukrainian soldiers. Compared to wooden shelters, they offer a number of advantages, in particular, they are mobile and multifunctional. The metal capsules can withstand hits from 152-mm artillery shells once buried 1.5 metres under the ground. Every capsule can accommodate six soldiers. They are equipped with containers to store body armour and military supplies, as well as with field stoves for keeping the soldiers warm. There is a ventilation system and an emergency exit.
As part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front military initiative, Metinvest has produced and handed over to Ukrainian defenders over 90 reliable prefabricated shelters.
"Metinvest Group focuses all efforts and resources to help our defenders hold the front line. Our defenders keep sending their thanks to us for the body armour, military supplies, and shelters. Along with their feedback, they sometimes send their proposals for improvement of capsule design, armoured plates, etc. We always process all requests and try to meet all of them to ensure our assistance is effective and helps bring our victory closer,"
said Oleksandr Myronenko, Metinvest Group COO.

In January, Metinvest specialists developed a pilot model of multifunctional mobile shelter, which can be used for protection of civilians as well. Compared to the previous shelter designs, this one is 1.5 times bigger in diameter and length. The shelter is designed for temporary accommodation of people, so the beds have been replaced with benches. Currently, the pilot model is undergoing tests. Metinvest plans to continue producing mobile shelters for the needs of the military as well as civilians living in the frontline areas.
