Since Russia launched its full-scale war on Ukraine Kryvyi Rih-based companies of Metinvest Group have been providing comprehensive assistance to Ukrainian fighters as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative. Metinvest employees in Kryvyi Rih have made 159 prefabricated steel shelters for Ukrainian fighters on the front lines. Overall, Metinvest has sent 200 capsules to the front lines.
Seventeen months into the war, Ukraine continues its resistance against Russia. The country has been living and working in the context of war. Ukrainian fighters on the front lines are doing the most difficult and important work of all. Metinvest Group’s Steel Front has been a central pillar of support. Last year, Metinvest launched production of portable steel war shelters for the military. The initiative was implemented due to joint efforts of miners and repair crews as well as design engineers of Metinvest. These dugout shelters are used as field accommodation for the Ukrainian fighters as well as provide highly reliable protection during the artillery shelling.
“During the war Kryvyi Rih miners and repair crews joined efforts with Metinvest steel makers to do more than simply redirect production towards the needs of the existing sales markets and address the challenges of our time. Most production shops of the company manufacture the equipment required by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Portable steel war shelters made of Metinvest steel are sent to the borders of Ukraine as well as the areas of active hostilities. They have become “life capsules” for our fighters. Most of them are made in production shops of our Kryvyi Rih companies. We will keep manufacturing the capsules as long as required,” said Oleksandr Myronenko, COO of Metinvest Group.
Overall, as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative, Metinvest has sourced more than UAH 2 billion to support the Ukrainian army. The company has been donating bulletproof vests, Kevlar helmet, military drones and optical equipment. It helps with armoured vehicles and works closely with the Armed Forces of Ukraine to bring Ukraine closer to its victory.
