DTEK Energy has successfully imported a substantial 103,000 tonnes of coal from Poland to its thermal power stations in Ukraine, reinforcing the stability of the country’s thermal power generation and overall energy system for the heating season.
This import forms part of a consistent and ongoing supply effort. Under the contracted volumes, DTEK Energy plans to import an additional 177,000 tonnes of energy coal by the end of the autumn-winter period.
“The grid loads have spiked recently because of cold weather. Thermal generation works the hardest, utilising its balancing capacities during peak consumption times. Anticipating this, we made sure that thermal power plants are well-stocked with our own coal supplies, which is always a top priority, as well as secured additional coal imports. This approach allows us to maintain reliable thermal generation and energy grid stability, ensuring consistent heat and electricity supply to Ukrainian homes throughout the winter,” said Ildar Salieiev, CEO of DTEK Energy.
