FC Shakhtar marketing director who has been defending Ukraine since the first days of the war has received a batch of equipment – Valkyrie UAVs and M-777 howitzer decoys from Metinvest as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative.
Before the full-scale war, Oleksandr Mamalyha held the position of marketing director at FC Shakhtar. Now he serves as a commander of an air reconnaissance group within one of the artillery brigades of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. This group operates on the eastern front.
His main mission is to locate and assist in neutralising enemy forces. His unit relies on various types of drones, ranging from basic Mavic copters to more advanced UAVs. Given the continuous demand for such equipment, Metinvest, as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative, has provided a valuable equipment shipment to Oleksandr Mamalyha’s unit. This shipment includes nine Valkyrie reconnaissance UAVs with a total value of UAH 2.7 million in total. The high flying altitude and range of these drones make them highly appreciated by Ukrainian fighters.
“Valkyrie UAVs are exceptionally cost-effective and excel even in the most challenging conditions. In the situations, when the enemy employs electronic warfare tactics, Valkyrie drones become invaluable. These drones can cover distances of up to 45 km, and with some additional adjustments, their range can be extended even further. Valkyrie UAVs help us identify high-value targets, such as enemy command centres and the whereabouts of enemy personnel. Once these targets are located, we can take appropriate action to neutralise them using various means,” stated Oleksandr Mamalyha.
