On 4 July, our energy company DTEK joined the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence. DTEK and GE Vernova, a global leader in energy technology, have signed a memorandum of understanding to advance a 650 MW combined-cycle gas power plant at DTEK's Burshtyn site in western Ukraine. The plant will provide flexible generation that can be brought online within minutes, bridging baseload capacity and weather-dependent renewables. The project carries a total investment of around $1 billion, targets commercial operation before 2032, and was named a flagship project at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk.

With Fluence Energy, DTEK has commissioned a battery energy storage system that is the largest of its kind in Eastern Europe. The system provides the flexibility needed to stabilise a grid under constant strain, helping to balance supply and demand as Ukraine integrates more renewable generation and manages the pressure of wartime attacks on its infrastructure.
