In late March, a youth delegation from Ukraine visited European Union institutions to engage directly with European leaders and institutions. The delegation included young people from the Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as representatives from the Fastiv area. This diplomatic and educational visit was supported by Levada Cargo, a part of Lemtrans, SCM's transportation business.
The programme in Brussels was comprehensive, focusing on the future of Ukraine within Europe. Delegates held meetings with representatives from the European Committee of the Regions, the European Commission, and the European Parliament. The primary goals were to familiarise the Ukrainian youth with the operations of European institutions, to explore the various opportunities available for young people from EU candidate countries, and to share their direct experiences of living and studying amidst the ongoing war initiated by russia.
A highly symbolic moment of the visit was the presentation of a ceramic panel titled "Ukraine together with the European Union". This unique piece of art was created in 2023 for the All-Ukrainian Youth Forum "Unity" held in Fastiv. The panel is a collaborative effort, crafted together by Ukrainian youth and soldiers. It holds profound significance as it is made entirely from clay brought from near Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk region, an area heavily impacted by the war. The artistic process was directed by the renowned sculptor Oleksii Perhamenshchyk, recognised as the author of the trident on the Motherland Monument in Kyiv.
Levada Cargo proudly supported the initial creation of this panel in 2023, viewing it not as a singular event but as part of a sustained commitment. SCM companies firmly believe in the power of youth and the necessity of Ukraine's European integration, reinforcing these beliefs with concrete and continuous actions.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the European Committee of the Regions, the European Commission, and the European Parliament for their unwavering support of Ukraine. Special thanks are also given to the Mayor of Fastiv, Mykhailo Netiazhuk, for his personal involvement in organising this delegation.
This visit represents a significant step forward in developing international dialogue, sharing vital experiences, and understanding the crucial role that Ukrainian youth will play in the European future of Ukraine. SCM companies remain highly positive on the prospects of our nation and will continue to foster initiatives that build solid bridges between Ukraine and the European Union.
