To mark DTEK’s 20th anniversary, Shakhtar Academy hosted a youth football tournament in Shchaslyve village on 25-27 August, held as part of the Come On, Let’s Play! project. The event brought together ten youth teams from across Ukraine, including teams from Kobleve and Berezanka, where Come On, Let’s Play! pitches have been available since 2021 with financial support from DTEK Renewables. For the boys and girls, this was more than just a competition – it was a true football festival, where they could experience team spirit, the joy of the game, and the warmth of a big sporting family.
On 25 August, the draw determined the pairs for the matches, and on 26-27 August the children took to the field to showcase their skills. The participants demonstrated strong preparation, the ability to work as a team, and a sincere drive to win. Their performance stood out not only for sporting skill, but also for their dedication to football, which created the atmosphere of a genuine celebration of sport on the pitch.
Oleh Solovei, Deputy CEO of DTEK Renewables and Vitalii Shaida, CEO of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids attended the awards ceremony. Together with female players from FC Shakhtar, they personally congratulated the young athletes, presenting awards and commemorative gifts.
In his address to the teams, Oleh Solovei thanked the coaches for their work and dedication, and highlighted the importance of such tournaments for children:
“The Come On, Let’s Play! tournament is not just about football – it’s about friendship. Throughout the event, the children connected with new friends from across Ukraine. They may have arrived here as rivals, but they go home as friends. And believe me, these friendships matter just as much as scoring a goal.”
DTEK Renewables places special emphasis on supporting children’s sports, education, and youth development. The company has supported the Come On, Let’s Play! project in Mykolaiv Region since 2021, and tournaments like this highlight the importance of such initiatives for children’s development.
DTEK Renewables, together with Shakhtar Social, will continue the project, providing young athletes with opportunities for training, skill-building, and pursuing their sporting dreams.
