Yet another shipment with buggies made of Metinvest's steel has reached the front lines. Overall, Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front military initiative has provided 149 fast-moving buggies.
In early 2023, Metinvest-SMC, following the request of the Southern Operational Command, started providing its steel for making buggies. The first shipment of ten buggies required 3.8 tonnes of rolled metal. The latest shipment comprised 24 vehicles and made it to the front lines in summer 2024.
On the front lines, such mobile vehicles for small combat groups play a crucial role in carrying out combat missions. Buggies can quickly navigate rough terrain, aiding soldiers in reconnaissance and enabling rapid strikes against the enemy.
"Success on the battlefield hinges on having effective equipment, particularly fast, manoeuvrable, simple, and reliable vehicles. Recognising this need, we began collaborating with the Southern Operational Command over a year ago, supplying our metal for the production of these buggies. This effort continues, and the best feedback we receive is from the soldiers who are grateful for these steel vehicles that have proven their worth in combat conditions,"
said Oleksandr Palamarchuk, Chief Operating Officer of Metinvest-SMC.
Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front has launched the production of various steel products for the needs of Ukrainian soldiers since the early days of the invasion. In particular, Metinvest steel is used to produce protective screens against FPV drones, which are mounted on tanks, safeguarding both equipment and the lives of our defenders.
