On 1 July 2025, Ukrtelecom became the first Ukrainian company to be officially admitted as a full member of Connect Europe, following approval by the association’s General Assembly. Connect Europe brings together leaders of the European telecommunications industry, including major players such as British Telecom, Telefonica, and Orange.
“Joining Connect Europe is a major milestone for Ukrtelecom and a significant step in Ukraine’s integration into the European digital community. Despite the war, we continue building a modern, resilient infrastructure that connects people, supports the economy, and strengthens national security. We are ready to share our unique experience, contribute to Europe’s digital resilience, and work together to shape a secure, inclusive, and innovative digital future,”
said Yuriy Kurmaz, CEO of Ukrtelecom.
Connect Europe is an association of digital network and telecom service providers representing countries across Europe and its neighbours. With Ukrtelecom’s entry, the organisation now includes 43 companies. The association plays a key role as a collaborative platform for telecom policy, investment, innovation, competitiveness, and digital inclusion across and beyond Europe.
Alessandro Gropelli, Director General of Connect Europe, stated:
Ukrtelecom’s accession sends a powerful message about the future of digital unity in Europe. It’s a testament to the resilience of Ukraine’s digital sector and a reminder that connectivity is not only about technology – it’s also about solidarity, democracy, and recovery. We are honoured to welcome Ukrtelecom into our ecosystem and look forward to learning from their exceptional experience.”
Ukrtelecom is Ukraine’s largest fixed broadband provider and delivers critical digital infrastructure to millions of households, businesses, and government institutions. The company’s fiber-optic network reaches over 3 million households in 2,000 localities.
