Metinvest-SMC continues to provide Ukrainian defenders with the best-quality steel. As part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front military initiative, the company has provided metalware to the Operational Command South to be used for production of fast-moving buggies that are in great demand on the front lines.
Buggies are often captured on front-line photos and videos, yet, buggies are not organic assets for the Ukrainian army: they are produced and supplied by activists, volunteers, and representatives of individual military units. Why are they in great demand? Because they are compact, fast, maneuverable, show good cross-country performance and are easy to camouflage. Besides, they are not very expensive and indispensable when you need to conduct reconnaissance, attack in small groups or make quick raids behind the enemy lines. Thus, buggies are a good alternative to conventional vehicles on the front lines.
Recently, the Operational Command South has approached Metinvest-SMC to ask for the components to make buggies. Upon their request, the company donated 3,800 tonnes of rolled steel, including angles, sheets and tubes, to make ten buggies for the front.
“Providing small combat teams with mobile equipment is important for ensuring successful operations of our military who perform their combat missions. We are glad that our metalware handed over as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front will help bring our victory closer,” said General Director of Metinvest-SMC Ihor Toniev.
