Henrik Andersen, President and CEO of Vestas, a leading European renewable energy company, also spoke. The evening reflected a long-held approach to Ukraine's recovery: showcasing the country's heroes and working with international partners to build back better.

On the eve of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026, our energy company DTEK held its Annual Energy Evening in Gdańsk. The gathering focused on Ukraine's energy recovery and the partnerships needed to sustain it.
What did Oleksandr Usyk say?
Oleksandr Usyk, the world heavyweight champion, paid tribute to the resilience of the Ukrainian people and, in particular, the energy workers who keep the country running. He spoke about those who return to repair the damage after every missile strike, keeping the lights on, the water running and the gas flowing. "Real strength lies in the people," Mr Usyk said, describing the strength he sees each day in communities living through the war.
How are international partners supporting Ukraine's energy recovery?
Henrik Andersen, President and CEO of Vestas, a leading European renewable energy company, also spoke. He described Ukraine as a clear example of how energy independence and national security are linked, and pointed to the role wind energy will play in strengthening both Ukraine and Europe. Mr Andersen noted that scaling this work will require more power offtake agreements, greater certainty on grid connections, stronger project financing and coordinated government support, citing projects such as Tyligulska as a model.
