A Memorial to Defenders has been erected in the heroic city of Bucha to mark the anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv Oblast from the Russian invaders. Some materials for the construction of the memorial have been provided by Metinvest-SMC.
At the onset of the all-out war waged against Ukraine, Bucha became a witness of the atrocities committed by the Russian invaders. Located in Kyiv Oblast, Bucha was occupied by the enemy for 33 days until 31 March 2022, when the Armed Forces of Ukraine regained control over the city. A Memorial to Defenders was erected in Bucha to pay tribute to Ukrainians who defended the city and was killed by the Russian.
UASTAL Storozhuk LLC designed and manufactured the sophisticated ornamental structures and installed the memorial. Metinvest-SMC provided some rolled metal, in particular, hot-rolled sheets and shaped pipes, to produce the steel parts of the memorial.
The memorial was erected and opened in late March. The national flag was raised at the opening ceremony. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and senior officials from Moldova, Slovakia, Croatia and Slovenia visited Bucha on the anniversary of its liberation from the Russian troops.
