Metinvest Polytechnic is strengthening its international collaborations by signing a partnership agreement with Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche S.p.A., an Italian company and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of equipment for the metal industry. This cooperation will provide students and faculty with new opportunities for international internships, exposure to cutting-edge engineering solutions, and active participation in the sustainable transformation of metallurgy in line with European sustainable development standards.
Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche S.p.A. ranks among the top three global manufacturers of metal processing equipment. With operations worldwide, the company specialises in innovative solutions for industrial steel production, including decarbonisation technologies, process automation, and energy efficiency enhancements. By collaborating with Danieli, Metinvest Polytechnic students will gain firsthand experience of global metallurgical advancements and contribute to the development of new approaches in steel production.
“Green” industrial transformation: a key focus of the partnership
The metallurgical sector is undergoing a global shift toward sustainable technologies, creating new opportunities for engineers and researchers. Commenting on the significance of the partnership, Metinvest Polytechnic Rector Oleksandr Povazhnyi stated:

The post-war recovery of the industry will demand innovative solutions and approaches, and we must equip professionals who can lead this transformation.”
Expanding student access to international internships
A key aspect of this collaboration will be the opportunity for students to gain international experience at Danieli’s production facilities. This initiative will allow students to acquire hands-on experience working with leading metallurgical companies, familiarise themselves with state-of-the-art technologies, and develop professional skills in an international setting. Following a competitive selection process, three master’s students from the “Metallurgy Modernisation Management” programme, together with Professor Volodymyr Pashynskyi, Head of the Department of Materials Science and Applied Mechanics, have been selected for a one-month internship in Italy. They will train directly at metallurgical plants utilising Danieli equipment, gaining practical expertise and insight into cutting-edge industry innovations.
In addition, the rector emphasised that adopting European technical standards in Ukraine will play a crucial role in the country’s industrial recovery: “It means our students need to start learning about green technologies, energy-efficient solutions, and innovative metallurgical processes today. Through our partnership with Danieli, they will gain precisely these skills,” said Oleksandr Povazhnyi.
Promoting technical education and expanding opportunities for young talent
