Since September 2022, Metinvest has been actively collaborating with a team of professional PULSE instructors, a charity organisation specialising in tactical medicine training for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and other defence units. Metinvest's donation of UAH 10.6 million as part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front military initiative has been instrumental in advancing the field of tactical medicine, and nearly 18,000 individuals have already benefited from PULSE training courses.
Recognising that emergencies are commonplace during times of war, Metinvest is committed to providing financial support for comprehensive training programmes for Ukrainian soldiers. This investment aims to help save the lives of our brave heroes who are defending civilians from Russian threat.
The PULSE team works closely with the military, including special forces units, providing them with essential training in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC). These standards, originally employed by the American Army in Iraq and Afghanistan, have proven to significantly reduce casualties during military operations.
Following the TCCC standards, multiple levels of personnel training have been developed to offer assistance in combat conditions. These training levels range from fundamental knowledge, which is essential for all military personnel, to advanced knowledge adapted for non-medical specialists. Practical exercises and simulated scenarios are integral parts of the training, allowing participants to hone their skills and prepare for rapid and accurate responses to real-life combat injuries. Furthermore, the PULSE team has completed the training of more than 250 doctors, equipping them with advanced medical procedures and expertise.
On a country level
Through close collaboration with organisations like PULSE as well as FAST First Aid and Special Training, Metinvest is actively contributing to increasing awareness about the significance of first aid among Ukrainians. One notable event was the company's participation in the inaugural Stop the Bleed Day in Ukraine held in May. The large-scale training initiative gathered significant public attention and earned a place in the Book of Records of Ukraine as the largest thematic event of its kind.
On the company level
Metinvest companies have consistently placed a high priority on health and safety. The quality of knowledge has improved and the number of training sessions has significantly increased since the outset of the all-out war. The Company has set a crucial objective: ensuring that each shift has at least one person who is capable of providing high quality medical assistance in any emergency situation. Last year Metinvest conducted a significant number of trainings across 17 of its affiliated companies, with over 2,500 employees participating in these sessions.
This initiative has extended into 2023, with more than 22,000 Metinvest employees already trained in the use of emergency tourniquets. Additionally, the Group's companies regularly invest in modern personal protective equipment to further enhance the safety and well-being of their workforce.
