To ensure steady coal production, DTEK Energy miners have launched eight new faces since the beginning of 2024, including two in March.
This initiative will help meet the fuel demands of thermal power stations during the summer peaks and build up reserves for the upcoming heating season.
“Despite enemy attacks on our energy infrastructure, our mission remains unchanged—we must do everything to ensure the power system operates smoothly. We recognise that our thermal power plants (TPPs) will be crucial this summer and throughout the next heating season. Mining fuel for thermal generation requires rhythm and consistency in all processes. Starting new faces is fundamental for coal production, which in turn ensures reliable TPP operations, especially during peak consumption times,”
stated Ildar Salieiev, CEO of DTEK Energy.
For 2024, DTEK Energy plans to initiate 26 new coal faces at its mines. Last year, the company’s investments in Ukrainian coal mining reached approximately UAH 7 billion, nearly doubling the investment from 2022.
