FUIB has been supporting the Ukrainian defenders since the onset of the all-out war. In 2023, the bank allocated UAH 87.4 million to assist units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the Main Directorate of Intelligence, and the Security Service of Ukraine. The bank’s total assistance provided since the outbreak of the full-scale invasion exceeded UAH 167 million.
Leonid Skalozub, Deputy Chairman of FUIB Management Board for Security, commented: “For nearly two years, our bank has been promptly responding to requests of military units fighting in the flashpoints of the front. In 2023, our defenders had an ongoing need for various UAVs, from basic FPV drones to advanced long-range aerial systems, as well as the devices for controlling these birds and the means to fend off the enemy drones. The defenders required tools and parts for repairing the electronic warfare systems, and also frequently requested communication devices and transport, from pickups to evacuation helicopters. Our steadfast support not only improves the country’s defence capabilities, but helps to save soldiers’ lives at the front lines and the civilians in peaceful cities and towns.”
In 2023, the bank fulfilled numerous military requests, purchasing 374 drones, 6 thermal imagers, 14 communication devices, 177 equipment units for fighting enemy drones and repairing attack UAVs, 21 repair components for air defence systems, 6 vehicles, and financing half of a medical evacuation helicopter, among other items.
Throughout 2023, FUIB participated in two national mega fund raisers, one for kamikaze drones for Madiar’s Birds, and another one for UAVs for the Armed Forces of Ukraine led by Serhiy Prytula Foundation. Furthermore, for Ukraine’s Independence Day FUIB joined forces with the Security Service of Ukraine, customers, friends and partners, to raise UAH 60 million for production of the first batch of 33 advanced long-range UAVs called Morok. The drones were handed over to SBU’s Special Operations Centre A, in particular the White Wolf unit.
In its military support efforts, FUIB works both with prominent charities and smaller volunteer organisations, united by a common significant goal.
Svitlana Denysenko, Director of KSE Foundation: “FUIB contributed to the joint initiative of Kyiv School of Economics students, KSE Foundation, and DefDev, raising funds for medical evacuation helicopters for the Main Directorate of Intelligence. The bank donated UAH 11 million towards arranging fast evacuation of heavily injured soldiers from the battlefield. In addition, the bank channelled UAH 300,000 to procure a device for negative pressure wound therapy, which was handed over to the military hospital in Vinnytsia Oblast. The device speeds up the healing of wounds and burns of various severity and has already helped dozens of our defenders. The support provided by the bank saves lives.”
The team of the We Don’t Leave Our Own Behind volunteer community: “In total, the assistance provided by FUIB to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in cooperation with We Don’t Leave Our Own Behind amounted to UAH 1.8 million. We extend our deepest gratitude for 6 DJI Mavic 3 drones, 5 thermal imagers, 2 DJI Mavic 3T drones, one pickup truck and a lot of other essentials for the front, which we jointly managed to hand over to our defenders. We appreciate every moment of our cooperation.”
In a bid to support our combatants, caring Ukrainians transferred more than UAH 176 million through various channels of FUIB to charity funds in 2023.
FUIB is a partner of the Brave Hryvnia charity campaign launched by the National Bank of Ukraine. From 4 September to 8 December 2023, the bank collected coins across the country to meet the needs of the front and raised UAH 4.3 million in coins in just three months. Ukrainians transferred more than UAH 500,000 in coins through FUIB branches to a special fundraising account of the NBU to support of the Armed Forces.
Many people and businesses have joined the fight for Ukraine’s freedom. Together we are invincible.
