Ukrtelecom is actively expanding energy independent optical networks across various regions of Ukraine. In 2024 alone, over 475 km of optical lines were laid in Chernihiv Region, enabling around 39,000 households to connect to energy independent internet.
To date, Ukrtelecom’s internet service is available in 174 settlements of Chernihiv Region, 116 of which are already equipped with GPON-based energy independent networks. For 2025, the company plans to further expand the number of cities, towns and villages with access to this reliable technology.
“In 2024, in addition to extensive coverage in nearly 100 villages serving over 100,000 residents, we completed large-scale modernisation in all settlements with populations exceeding 5,000 people. This year also marked the start of major investment projects in the regional capital, Chernihiv. Residents of Desnianskyi district can already experience the benefits of the new energy-independent GPON networks from Ukrtelecom, while further deployment continues,”
said Serhiy Kindras, Director of Development Projects Department at Ukrtelecom.
Despite the challenges posed by the war, Ukrtelecom continues to actively develop its modern GPON network. This technology ensures stability, high quality and, most importantly, energy independence for internet connectivity – precisely what customers need today.
