DTEK Energy has been repairing its thermal power plants for the 2023-2024 heating season.
The company has been preparing its power units for the next heating season as part of this year's repair campaign, in addition to the efforts to rebuild its power generating businesses damaged by Russian attacks.
To date, seven power units of DTEK Energy are at different stages of repairs. In March-April, the company repaired two power units. According to preliminary information, DTEK Energy invested more than UAH 890 million in the first four months of 2023 to repair its TTPs. Yet, nearly UAH 7 billion is required to restore the equipment damaged and destroyed by the enemy.
The power engineers are rising up to new challenges. They need to restore the damaged equipment as quickly as possible and repair the power units that had been operating at their maximum capacity this winter. This must be done in a challenging environment as the thermal power generation sector will operate at its full potential because nuclear power units come under routine repair. The acute shortage of liquidity in the market is another serious challenge. Given the extent of damage to the TPPs, the company's resources will not suffice to repair the power units, so there is need for a unified programme of the energy grid renovation. The completeness and timeliness of the repairs are key to the reliability of Ukraine's upcoming heating season," said DTEK Energy CEO Ildar Salieiev.
In 2022, DTEK Energy repaired 26 power units, having invested around UAH 2.2 billion.
