To better secure the heating season, DTEK Energy has contracted another 70,000 tonnes of thermal coal from Poland, bringing the total fuel imports contracted from this country to 280,000 tonnes. This coal is essential for powering thermal power plants (TPPs), playing a vital role in uninterrupted operation of Ukraine's entire energy grid.
The contracts guarantee steady coal deliveries throughout the heating season, from September this year to March next year. So far, the company has already successfully imported and allocated nearly 78,000 of coal among its TPPs.
"We understand the challenges of the heating season, so we are strategically stockpiling resources wherever possible, while continuously repairing and restoring the power units and producing coal at maximum capacity. To prepare for potential further shelling, we have secured the backup critical equipment, equipped the TPPs and mines with alternative power sources. The additional coal imports provide us with an extra layer of security. While our own coal production remains our top priority, the additional coal from abroad will significantly bolster our capacity to navigate the heating season more effectively. We are doing everything to power through this harsh winter and bring light and heat to the homes of Ukrainians," emphasised the CEO of DTEK Energy Ildar Salieiev.
