Metinvest Polytechnic students have completed a week-long hands-on training session in Kryvyi Rih, immersing themselves in the real-world operations of Metinvest Group’s production facilities. This year’s training involved not only students majoring in mineral processing, but also, for the first time, students in technical disciplines such as Engineering of Power Supply and Electromechanical Systems in Metallurgy and Mining and Energy-Efficient Technologies in Power Supply Systems for Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises.
The session took place at several key sites, including Northern, Inhulets, and Central Mining and Processing Plants. The agenda featured lectures, thematic workshops, production site tours and, most importantly, hands-on lab work carried out directly on shop floors and testing grounds. Students studied external and internal power supply systems for open-pit mining operations, examined the structure of electromechanical equipment, and analysed the thermal behaviour of electrical components using thermal imaging tools. Special focus was given to energy efficiency, energy distribution technologies in Kryvbas quarries, mining equipment, and the operation of electrical substations.
The training was led by experienced industry professionals and university instructors. One of the key modules of the session took place at the Central GZK training centre where future master’s students studied industrial electrical networks, power supply systems for quarries, and infrastructure upgrades at mining facilities.
Metinvest Polytechnic is Ukraine’s first private university specialising in mining and metallurgy. Founded by Metinvest Group, the university designs its academic programmes to meet modern industry needs, and hands-on training at production sites equips students with valuable real-world skills to start their careers confidently.
