In January-March, DTEK Energy put into operation six new longwalls to maintain the coal output needed to support stable operations of domestic thermal power plants.
The company started two longwalls in January and three more in February. Another longwall was put into operation in March.
“For Ukrainian miners, the peak season is not bound to the cold months only, it is all year round. After all, coal mining is not a fast process. We should launch longwalls in spring to have coal for thermal power plants in October or November. Therefore, our miners keep working 24/7 to provide TPPs with coal during the next heating season, which is not going to be easier,"
said Ildar Salieiev, CEO of DTEK Energy.
In 2022, the company launched 28 new longwalls.
DTEK Energy provided in-house thermal power plants with fuel and helped the state-run TPPs go through this heating season easier. It shipped more than 120,000 tonnes of coal in late 2022 to meet their needs.
